Dune: Part Three Final Trailer Reveals New Details

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the final trailer for Dune: Part Three, the highly anticipated third installment in the science fiction franchise directed by Denis Villeneuve. Starring Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme) and Zendaya (The Odyssey), the film promises to bring Paul Atreides’ journey to a close with a story centered on the consequences of power, political conspiracies, and new dangers on Arrakis.

The preview features never-before-seen footage of Emperor Paul Atreides as he confronts the consequences of his own decisions. The trailer also highlights the strained relationship between Paul and Chani while introducing characters who will play important roles in the future of House Atreides.

Set nearly two decades after Paul seized control of the Imperium, Dune: Part Three follows an emperor forced to confront the consequences of his reign. Although he has claimed the throne, Paul finds himself surrounded by threats, betrayals, and a conspiracy that endangers both his rule and the people he loves.

The new trailer underscores the conflict between Paul and Chani, whose relationship was deeply affected by the events of Dune: Part Two (2024). As Paul struggles to maintain his grip on the Imperium, his past and the choices that brought him to power continue to haunt him.

The preview also introduces Paul and Chani’s twin children, Leto II and Ghanima Atreides, characters who will play significant roles in the future of the saga. Their presence expands the story’s family and political dimensions as new forces move to overthrow the emperor.

The film is inspired by Dune Messiah, Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel. In the book, Herbert explores the consequences of Paul’s rise to power, examining the dangers of personality cults, religious fanaticism, and the concentration of power.

The cast brings back familiar faces from the first two films while introducing new characters who will play important roles in the central conflict.

Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul Atreides, while Zendaya reprises her role as Chani. Florence Pugh returns as Princess Irulan, Rebecca Ferguson plays Lady Jessica, and Anya Taylor-Joy reprises her role as Alia Atreides.

One of the major additions is Robert Pattinson as Scytale, a character associated with the Bene Tleilax, an organization known for genetic manipulation and schemes against Paul’s rule.

Jason Momoa also returns to the franchise, this time as Hayt, a new version of Duncan Idaho. The cast also includes Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot, and Isaach de Bankolé as Farok.

Newcomers Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke play Leto II and Ghanima, respectively, the children of Paul and Chani.

Denis Villeneuve returns to the director’s chair and co-writes the screenplay with Brian K. Vaughan. The filmmaker also directed Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), adaptations praised by critics and audiences for their visual depiction of Arrakis and their exploration of the political and philosophical themes in Herbert’s work.

The third film promises to take a darker approach to the story, combining suspense, conspiracy, and action. The production also features the return of composer Hans Zimmer, who created the musical identity of the previous installments.

With the new film, Villeneuve brings his cinematic journey centered on Paul Atreides to a close, exploring the consequences of his transformation from a hero into a powerful figure whose influence threatens to spiral out of control.
