Blade Runner 2099: Watch the New Official Trailer

Prime Video released a new trailer for Blade Runner 2099 on Saturday, October 10. The upcoming sci-fi series expands the iconic Blade Runner franchise. The footage debuted during the show’s panel at New York Comic Con, where the official teaser poster was also unveiled.

The limited series consists of eight episodes and premieres on November 25, 2026, on Prime Video, with a release planned for more than 240 countries and territories.

The new trailer offers a look at Los Angeles in 2099 and highlights the relationship between the two lead characters: Cora, played by Hunter Schafer, and Olwen, portrayed by Michelle Yeoh. The preview captures the franchise’s signature sci-fi noir atmosphere and explores the conflict between humans and replicants.

First Teaser

The first teaser introduced viewers to the franchise’s dark cyberpunk universe, set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049. The story follows Cora (Hunter Schafer), a fugitive who eventually takes on the role of a Blade Runner, and Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), a replicant nearing the end of her lifespan. Together, they embark on a mission that could change the future of Los Angeles.

Plot

Set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049 (2017), directed by Denis Villeneuve, the limited series takes viewers to a futuristic Los Angeles in the year 2099. According to the official synopsis released by Prime Video, the story follows Olwen, a veteran Blade Runner nearing the end of her life, and Cora, a young woman who has just arrived in the city. Together, they investigate a conspiracy rooted in Los Angeles’s darkest origins, putting the future of both humans and replicants at risk.

Hunter Schafer plays Cora in the first teaser for Blade Runner 2099, a Prime Video limited series that expands the classic sci-fi franchise.

Blade Runner 2099 is led by Silka Luisa, known for Shining Girls, who serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. She shares executive producing duties with Ridley Scott, director of the original Blade Runner (1982), as well as Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, co-founders of Alcon Entertainment; the company’s head of television, Ben Roberts; and David W. Zucker and Clayton Krueger of Scott Free Productions, among other members of the creative team.

Jonathan van Tulleken, whose previous credits include Shōgun and Dope Thief, directed the first two episodes.

The limited series is a co-production between Scott Free Productions, Alcon Television Group, Amazon MGM Studios, and Sony Pictures Television. Filming took place at Barrandov Studios in Prague, Czech Republic, as well as on location in Barcelona, Spain.
