The first trailer for Baywatch, a new take on the classic TV series, was released by Prime Video on Tuesday, October 13. The series is set to premiere in January 2027 and promises to bring back the spectacular rescues, personal drama, and iconic red swimsuits that defined the original show.
Starring Stephen Amell (Arrow), the series follows Hobie Buchannon, the son of legendary lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, played by David Hasselhoff in the original show. Now serving as captain of the lifeguard team, Hobie must handle high-risk emergencies along the California coast while navigating unexpected changes in his personal life.

What Is the New Series About?
In the series, Hobie Buchannon follows in his father’s footsteps and leads a team responsible for protecting the California coastline. His routine takes an unexpected turn when Charlie Vale, his biological daughter, suddenly enters his life.
Played by Jessica Belkin, Charlie wants more than just to get to know her father. She also hopes to become a lifeguard and work alongside him, carrying on the Buchannon family legacy.
Hobie is concerned about her decision because he understands the dangers of the job and fears for his daughter’s safety. As he responds to emergencies that demand courage and skill, the captain must find a way to balance his professional responsibilities with the chance to build a family relationship he has never had.
The new series blends action, drama, and beachside adventure, retaining the formula that helped make Baywatch one of television’s most recognizable shows.
