The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth Trailer: Brad Pitt Returns

Netflix movie written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher

Netflix has released the new full-length trailer for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, a new film directed by David Fincher and based on a screenplay by Quentin Tarantino.

The production revisits Cliff Booth, the character played by Brad Pitt in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019). In Tarantino’s film, Pitt won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of the stuntman and friend of Rick Dalton, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

New Trailer

The story of The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth takes place in 1977, eight years after the events of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. No longer working as Rick Dalton’s stunt double, Cliff Booth takes on a different routine in Hollywood. In the trailer, the character explains that he stopped working for his former partner because “Rick got fat,” a direct reference to the character played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

As he tries to adjust to this new chapter, Cliff works as a bartender and movie projectionist, while also serving as a fixer — someone hired to handle sensitive problems behind the scenes of the film industry. The official synopsis also indicates that his skills once again put him at the center of situations involving influential figures in Hollywood.

The story takes a new turn when Cliff receives a call from talent agent Karen Crosby, played by Elizabeth Debicki. She asks for his help dealing with her client, television star Charlie Peters (Scott Caan), setting off a story involving violence, ambition, and crime in the Los Angeles underworld.

Despite the references to Rick Dalton in the trailer, Leonardo DiCaprio is not among the confirmed cast members at this time. The new film reunites Brad Pitt and David Fincher, with a screenplay by Quentin Tarantino.

The cast of The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth includes Brad Pitt, Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Timothy Olyphant, Holt McCallany, Corey Fogelmanis, and Emily Alyn Lind. Cinematography is by Erik Messerschmidt, a frequent collaborator of David Fincher who has also worked with the filmmaker on productions such as Mindhunter and Mank.

Messerschmidt takes over the role previously held by Robert Richardson on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The change also marks a visual distinction between the two films, with Fincher once again working alongside one of his key technical collaborators.

The screenplay for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth originated from The Movie Critic, a project Quentin Tarantino developed as a possible final film of his directing career before abandoning the idea. The filmmaker later reworked the material into a new story centered on Cliff Booth, the character played by Brad Pitt.

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth arrives in IMAX theaters on November 25.
